When does it open? Sungei Bedok (DT37 and TE31) opens with Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 5 and the Downtown Line extension. On 6 December 2024 the LTA said both would open in the second half of 2026. As of October 2026 the exact opening day had not been announced, so the station is still closed to passengers.

Sungei Bedok MRT station is a future underground station in the Bedok planning area of eastern Singapore. It is being built just east of the point where Upper East Coast Road continues as Bedok Road. The station is planned as an interchange between two lines: the Downtown Line, where it will carry the code DT37, and the Thomson-East Coast Line, where it will be numbered TE31. Trains do not stop here yet, so it cannot be used for any journeys at present.
When it opens, the station will be the eastern end of both lines. Passengers arriving on either route will reach a terminus where they can change to the other line without leaving the building. Its main purpose is to give residents of the Eastwood estate a rail connection close to home, with direct trains on two separate lines towards the city centre and other parts of the island. The station also sits beside the East Coast Integrated Depot, which was planned at the same time.
History of Sungei Bedok MRT station
Plans for Sungei Bedok MRT station were made public on 15 August 2014 as part of two extensions: Downtown Line stage 3e and Thomson-East Coast Line phase 5, each adding two stations to reach this site. Completion was first targeted for 2024. The COVID-19 pandemic pushed this back to 2025, and difficulties with tunnelling close to existing critical infrastructure moved passenger service to 2026. The Downtown Line will end here permanently, but the Thomson-East Coast Line is only expected to terminate here until 2040, when it is due to continue to Changi Airport Terminal 5 and the existing Changi Airport stations before ending at Tanah Merah.
Once trains are running, Sungei Bedok MRT station should be a practical stop for anyone heading to the eastern edge of Bedok. These places are close to the station:
- Bedok Food Centre, a convenient choice for a meal before or after a journey
- Eastwood Centre, which serves the surrounding estate
- Laguna National Golf & Country Club, useful for golfers and club visitors travelling without a car
For people living in Eastwood, the station will mean a short walk to two lines rather than a bus ride to a station further away. For visitors, it will offer a simple way to reach the food centre or the golf club from other parts of Singapore. Because it is a terminus on both lines, every train arriving here will end its journey at this station, so passengers will not need to worry about missing their stop when travelling east.
