Xilin MRT Station
When does it open? Xilin (DT36) is on the Downtown Line extension from Expo to Sungei Bedok. On 6 December 2024 the LTA said the extension would open in the second half of 2026. As of October 2026 the exact opening day had not been announced, so the station is still closed to passengers.

Xilin MRT station is a future underground stop on the Downtown Line, where it will carry the station code DT36. It is being built in the Xilin subzone of Tampines, in the east of Singapore, at the meeting point of Xilin Avenue, Changi South Avenue 3 and Laguna Golf Green. Trains do not stop here yet, so the site is still a construction area rather than a working station. Because the platforms will sit below ground, the station will have a small footprint on the streets of the surrounding estate once it is finished.
When it opens, the station is expected to serve mainly the industrial estates of Changi South, giving people who work in the area a direct rail connection on the Downtown Line. It will also be the closest MRT stop for the Tanah Merah Country Club. The station is part of a short extension that takes the Downtown Line further east, and it was planned alongside the East Coast Integrated Depot next door.
History of Xilin MRT station
The idea of extending the Downtown Line eastwards was made public on 17 January 2013, when the Land Transport Master Plan 2013 was unveiled. The aim was to connect it with the line then known as the Eastern Region Line, so that passengers could change easily between the two. Xilin was named on 15 August 2014 as one of two stations in Downtown Line stage 3e, together with Sungei Bedok, with completion first expected in 2024. Tunnelling close to existing critical infrastructure proved difficult, and the expected opening has since moved to 2026.
Once Xilin MRT station opens, it will be most useful for reaching the offices, warehouses and other workplaces of the Changi South industrial area, which until now have been some way from the rail network. Golfers and members heading to the Tanah Merah Country Club will be able to get off here, and the roads around the station, including Xilin Avenue and Laguna Golf Green, lead towards these destinations.

Around Xilin MRT station
Xilin station is in the Changi South business area on the eastern side of Singapore, surrounded by offices, warehouses and light industry. Tanah Merah Country Club and the Laguna golf course are nearby, and Expo and the Singapore Expo halls are one stop west.
Tips for using Xilin MRT station
- Trains do not stop here yet, so use Expo (DT35) on the Downtown Line for now.
- Once the extension opens, Xilin will be one stop from Expo, where you can change to the East West Line branch for Changi Airport.
