History of Hillview MRT station
The station was first made public in July 2008, when the stations for the second stage of the Downtown Line were announced. It opened on 27 December 2015 as part of Downtown Line Stage 2, and journeys on the line were free until 1 January 2016. For almost a decade, the stretch of track between Hillview and Beauty World was the longest gap between any two stations on the Downtown Line. That changed when Hume station, built on this section, opened to passengers on 28 February 2025.
