Day to day, the station is used mostly by people living in the housing estates along Jalan Jurong Kechil and Toh Yi Drive, together with shoppers heading to Beauty World Centre, Beauty World Plaza and Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. Students and staff also use it, since Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School are both within walking distance. Others come for the Bukit Timah Community Club or the temples in the surrounding streets.
History of Beauty World MRT station
The station was announced in July 2008 as part of the second stage of the Downtown Line. Its name recalls Beauty World, an amusement park that became a market after the Second World War and was later demolished in the 1980s because of fire risks. Anak Bukit and Seventh Mile were also considered as names before Beauty World was chosen. During construction, pupils from nearby Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School named the two tunnel boring machines Athena and Artemis, after the Greek goddesses.

Like the rest of the Downtown Line, Beauty World MRT station is run by SBS Transit, and it is also designated as a Civil Defence shelter. Look out for Asemic Lines by Boedi Widjaja, an artwork that draws on the mix of languages in Singapore and asks viewers to move between reading the shapes and simply looking at them.
For visitors and residents alike, Beauty World MRT station is above all a gateway to food and everyday shopping. Beauty World Plaza is about a minute’s walk away, and Beauty World Centre takes around three minutes to reach.
