Orchard Boulevard MRT station is an underground stop on the Thomson-East Coast Line, listed on maps and signs under the code TE13. You will find it at the end of Orchard Boulevard, at the junction with Grange Road and Rochalie Drive, within the Orchard district of central Singapore. History of Orchard Boulevard MRT station

Plans for the station were made public on 29 August 2012, when it was announced as a stop on the proposed Thomson Line. In 2014 that project was combined with the Eastern Region Line to form the Thomson-East Coast Line, and the station was grouped into the third stage, covering 13 stations from Mount Pleasant to Gardens by the Bay. Construction limits during the COVID-19 pandemic delayed that stage by a year, and the station welcomed its first passengers on 13 November 2022.

Inside Orchard Boulevard MRT station

SAA Architects had a confined site to work with, so they built the ventilation shafts, cooling towers and skylights directly above the station, letting daylight reach a three-tiered mezzanine below the main entrance. Hanging over the concourse is Pulse by Twardzik Ching Chor Leng, a network of large industrial pipes that likens the constant movement of MRT passengers to blood circulating through the human body, with the sunlight on it changing through the day.

For most visitors, Orchard Boulevard MRT station is the easiest way to reach the shops and clinics at this end of Orchard. Tanglin Mall is the closest destination, about 180 m away or a three-minute walk. Forum The Shopping Mall is around 10 minutes on foot, and Palais Renaissance is roughly 12 minutes away. Anyone visiting Gleneagles Hospital can walk there in about 11 minutes.

The station also works as a starting point for the Singapore Botanic Gardens, with the Marsh Garden and the Orchid Breeding and Micropropagation Lab each about a 14-minute walk away and the Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Museum around 15 minutes away. Residents of the surrounding streets use it for daily travel across the city on the Thomson-East Coast Line.
