Most of the people who use the station live in the private residential estates along Bukit Timah Road. Students and staff also use it to reach schools in the area, including Methodist Girls’ School and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. It is also the closest stop for anyone visiting the preserved Bukit Timah railway station, a reminder of the old railway line that once ran through this part of the island.
History of King Albert Park MRT station
King Albert Park MRT station opened on 27 December 2015 with the other stations of Downtown Line Stage 2, earlier than the original mid-2016 forecast. During planning it was called Blackmore, and the current name was chosen through a public poll in July 2009. In September 2022, the station was announced as a future interchange with the Cross Island Line. Its Cross Island Line platforms are planned to be the deepest on the MRT network at 50 metres underground, with completion scheduled for 2032.
