Simei MRT Station
Simei MRT station is an elevated station on the East West Line, numbered EW3, in the Simei area of Tampines in eastern Singapore. It sits within the block formed by Simei Streets 1, 3, 5 and 6, surrounded by housing estates, shops and two large hospitals. Like the other above-ground stops on this eastern stretch of the line, it has a segmented, dome-shaped roof that is easy to recognise from the street.

The station is operated by SMRT Trains. Most passengers are people who live in the surrounding Simei estates and use it for their daily commute. It also serves shoppers heading to East Point mall, students at Changkat Primary and Changkat Secondary School, and people visiting the hospitals a short walk away.
History of Simei MRT station
When the MRT network was first planned in 1982, this stop was called Tampines South, and it received the name Simei the following year. It opened in December 1989 together with the other stations between Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris, and until 2001 it carried the code E10 before the current EW3 numbering was introduced across the network. In December 2024 the station closed for a few days during track works linked to the East Coast Integrated Depot, with services returning a day earlier than planned because the work finished ahead of schedule.
Inside Simei MRT station
The station has a single island platform, so trains in both directions stop on either side of the same platform, and half-height platform screen doors line the edges. There is one exit, the station is wheelchair accessible with ramps and covered linkways, and bicycle parking is provided for those who cycle to the train.
For residents and visitors, Simei MRT station is a convenient base for everyday errands and meals. Simei Plaza at Blk 248 and East Point mall are both about a minute’s walk away, and food centres such as Kopitiam, Hola! and Boleh Boleh! are just as close for a quick bite.
