Tuas Link MRT Station

Tuas Link MRT station stands on Tuas West Drive in Tuas, at the far western edge of Singapore, and is the westernmost station on the country’s rail network. History of Tuas Link MRT station

Plans to take the East West Line further into Tuas were first made public in 2008 to give the Jurong Industrial Estate and Tuas better public transport. This station was confirmed in January 2011 as part of the Tuas West Extension, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the whole extension was held at this site on 4 May 2012. The opening slipped from 2016 because the new signalling system needed extra testing, and the station began welcoming passengers on 18 June 2017, two days after a public open house.

The station has an unusual layout. It is the only elevated station in Singapore where the concourse sits above the platforms rather than below them, because there was too little room at ground level between Raffles Marina and land kept for road expansion. The concourse, 16 metres above the ground, is the smallest of any elevated station and has an open view down to the platforms. There are two entrances, both on Tuas West Drive. Westbound trains alternate between ending here and ending at Joo Koon, so check the destination shown on the train before boarding.

For most visitors, this is the rail stop for Tuas Checkpoint. The checkpoint’s bus interchanges are a walk of about 14 to 16 minutes away:
