Thanggam LRT Station
Thanggam LRT station is a stop on the West Loop of the Sengkang LRT in Sengkang, carrying the code SW4. Like every station on this line, it is elevated, sitting on a raised viaduct above street level rather than underground. A bridge links the station to Jalan Kayu by way of Lorong Samak, so it serves people on both sides of that crossing.

Most passengers are residents of the surrounding Sengkang housing, along with people walking over from the Jalan Kayu side. The trains are driverless and run around the loop to Sengkang station. That station is the interchange for both LRT loops and connects to the North East Line, so most longer journeys from here begin with a short ride around the West Loop.
History of Thanggam LRT station
The station opened on 29 January 2005, the same day the West Loop started carrying passengers. To mark the occasion, Wee Siew Kim, Adviser to Jalan Kayu Grassroots Organisations, opened the bridge connecting the station to Jalan Kayu via Lorong Samak. In its early years the West Loop ran trains in only one direction at a time. Mornings ran anti-clockwise from Thanggam towards Renjong and the rest of the day ran clockwise back to Thanggam, until trains began running both ways all day on 1 January 2013.
