History of Fernvale LRT station

Fernvale LRT station opened on 29 January 2005, when the West Loop began carrying passengers, about two years after the East Loop. At first, West Loop trains ran in one direction only, following the main flow of commuters at different times of day. Trains in both directions were introduced during weekday peak hours in 2010, and full-day service in both directions began on 1 January 2013. Two-car trains started running on the line in December 2015 to cope with rising passenger numbers.

Inside Fernvale LRT station

Trains here are fully automated, so there is no driver on board, and the cars run on rubber tyres along a concrete guideway. Depending on the time of day, a train may have one car or two. A new fleet of two-car trains has been entering service since 15 July 2025 and will gradually replace older trains on the line until 2028.
