Most passengers are people living in the surrounding housing estate, who use the station for short trips around the West Loop or to reach Sengkang station. There, both LRT loops meet and riders can change to the North East Line for journeys further across Singapore. The trains are fully automated and run without drivers, so a ride is usually a quick hop between neighbourhood stops rather than a long journey.

History of Renjong LRT station

Renjong LRT station opened on 29 January 2005, when the West Loop began carrying passengers almost two years after the East Loop. In those early years, West Loop trains ran in one direction only, following the main flow of commuters: anti-clockwise from Thanggam to Renjong in the morning, then clockwise from Renjong to Thanggam from the afternoon onwards. Trains in both directions throughout the day only arrived on 1 January 2013, and two-car trains were introduced across the Sengkang LRT in December 2015 to cope with growing ridership.

Inside Renjong LRT station

Services at the station are run by SBS Transit using driverless Crystal Mover cars, some of which operate as two-car trains. A new fleet of two-car trains has been entering service since 15 July 2025, so passengers may notice newer vehicles on the line.

For residents, the station is a practical base for everyday errands. Anchorvale 303 Foodcourt is right beside it for a quick meal, and Food Paradise is about a five-minute walk away. Masjid Al-Mawaddah can be reached on foot in around six minutes, while Buangkok Bus Interchange and Sengkang Grand Mall are each roughly seven minutes away, which is useful for onward bus journeys or shopping. Those willing to walk a little further will find Sengkang Public Library and Compass One within about a quarter of an hour, making Renjong LRT station a convenient starting point for both daily needs and a longer visit to the area.
