MRT Map in Chinese (华文). Chinese is one of Singapore’s four official languages, and ethnic Chinese make up the largest group in Singapore‘s population. Mandarin is taught in schools, used in broadcast media, and practical for dealings with government and business. It also plays a real role in keeping cultural ties strong across generations.
Why an MRT map in Chinese helps
Singapore has four official languages: English, Malay, Mandarin Chinese and Tamil. Station signs across the network show names in all four, and a Chinese version of the map helps Mandarin readers, including many older residents and visitors, match the names they see on the platform. Most station names are written phonetically in Chinese characters, so the Chinese name sounds close to the English one. A few are translated by meaning instead: Botanic Gardens, for example, becomes 植物园.
Line colours and station codes are the same on every language version, so a code such as NS24 or CC1 points to the same place whichever map you hold. That makes it easy to switch between this map and the English MRT map or the printable PDF version. There are also Malay and Tamil versions of the map, and a Japanese guide to the MRT map.

For the official version, see the LTA rail network map.
